Things to do in Cypress in winter

In addition to mild temperatures, Cyprus in winter offers crowd-free beaches. The shoreline is perfect for stretching out in the sand or going for a stroll. The ocean may not be warm enough for most to take a dip but a better alternative may be nearby — jumping into a likely warmer hotel pool.

Winter in Cyprus is also a great time of year for hiking. The weather isn’t too hot, and there is so much to explore. The mountains offer archaeological sites, ancient churches, and spectacular views from summits. Some popular hikes include the Agioi Anargyroi Trail and the Adonis Nature Trail. The former is located on Cape Gkreko in the National Forest Park and is roughly 3 miles. Start at Konnos Beach, between Protaras and Cape Gkreko. Since the start of the trek runs alongside the shoreline, hikers get gorgeous water views. Expect to see the Agioi Anargyroi Church, built above a sea cave, and the rock arch Kamara tou Koraka bridge. The latter, the Adonis Nature Trail, is a 4.5-mile loop that starts near the Baths of Aphrodite and heads northwest through plenty of flora. It also offers beautiful beach views.

One of the most unique things to do in Cyprus in winter is travel to the salt lakes to see pink flamingoes. It’s spectacular to see the thousands that arrive in Cyprus between November and March. The birds like the island’s humidity levels as well as the plankton and shrimp they find in the water.
