When you think of popular cities in Washington, Seattle and Spokane may come to mind. And while these bustling destinations undoubtedly have a lot to offer, some lesser-known towns are worth adding to your radar. Consider taking a trip to Sequim, Washington, a coastal city ideal for a tranquil yet vibrant getaway.

Situated on the Strait of Juan de Fuca by the base of the Olympic Mountains, natural beauty abounds in Sequim. The 5.5-mile Dungeness Spit — the nation’s longest natural sand spit — sits north of Sequim and expands into the Strait. On top of striking landmarks, this destination boasts sunny skies much of the year. Part of the “Olympic Rain Shadow” region of Washington, Sequim averages just 16 inches of rain annually. To cement its uniqueness further, Sequim is called the “Lavender Capital of North America.”

Sequim also has a quaint downtown area with boutiques, shops, restaurants, and cultural sites. The balance of small-city charm and stunning nature make Sequim a refreshing place to relax and reset. Whether you’re spending your time boating along the glorious waters or checking out local art galleries, there’s lots to do in this Pacific Northwest city. Here’s how you can make the most of your vacation in Sequim.
