State Parks in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida

Throughout most of the country, activities in the winter months are limited to what keeps you inside. However, in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, the weather gives you free rein to enjoy the same activities you would during the summer months. What is more, Santa Rosa Beach is brimming with opportunities for outdoor adventures. In fact, three of Florida’s state parks all reside in this beach town — Grayton Beach State Park, Deer Lake State Park, and Eden Gardens State Park. In addition, there is also a state forest: Point Washington State Forest.

While all of these nature reserves offer something special, we highly recommend you make your way to Grayton Beach State Park. Stretching across 2,000 acres, this state park is where you’ll find some of the best snow-white beaches in the country. If you want a break from suntanning on the Gulf’s shores, the park offers a whole lot more to explore. Hike through the park’s 4 miles of trails or head to Western Lake and spend an afternoon fishing. If you’re seeking an immersive getaway in nature, the park also offers camping to guests.

Santa Rosa Beach is brimming with natural landscapes to explore and outdoorsy activities to enjoy. That alone is enough to keep you busy all winter long. However, you won’t want to miss out on the thriving arts and culture scene while you’re there. As is the case with most beautiful destinations, artists gather in this popular beach town for inspiration and community.

To get a glimpse of the talent along the South Walton shores, head over to The Artists at Gulf Place. There, you’ll find the work of local artists. Jewlery, pottery, painting, and more are put on display in this assembly of eight galleries. If you’re more interested in the performing arts, then catch a musical or live music at the Seaside Amphitheater.

Santa Rosa Beach’s locals are just as creative in the kitchen as they are on the canvas. Just a 15-minute drive from The Artists at Gulf Place, you’ll find an overwhelming selection of gourmet food trucks at Airstream Row. For a sit-down meal, grab a table at one of the city’s most popular restaurants, Louis Louis for some delicious seafood.
