Converting Square Meters to Cubic Meters

Converting Square Meters to Cubic Meters

Meters squared and meters cubed refer to different methods of measuring space. One describes the area of a flat plane, while the other describes the area of a three-dimensional area. However, it is sometimes necessary to convert between one and the other. For example, if you know the square area of one side of a cube and the cube’s height, you can find the cubic area by converting from meters squared to meters cubed.

Step 1

Multiply the length of the area by its width. This will give you the square meters.

Step 2

Determine the height of the area.

Step 3

Multiply the meters squared by the height. This will give you the area’s cubic three-dimensional area.
