Experience the Majestic Waterfall Views of Canaima National Park in South America

Waterfalls to visit

Angel Falls is unsurprisingly the most popular waterfall in the park. It’s a key attraction for tour companies like Osprey Expeditions, which offers a four-day, three-night tour for $675 to $745. Angel Eco Tours offers similar ventures that’ll take you to additional waterfalls. For costs, you have to reach out to them directly and inquire.

Other waterfalls you need to see include Salto Aponguao, Yurani Falls, and Kavak Cave, which has a natural pool you can swim in. The Sapo Waterfalls are another great option for taking a scenic rest and hopping in the water for a swim. While they’re each significantly shorter than Angel Falls, they each have a unique beauty worth checking out.

These waterfalls are not accessible by car — there aren’t any roads in the park in general — you have to take a boat or a plane to get there. As for entry to the park, you can’t enter alone; you have to join a group and go with an expert local guide. Given how large the park is and the limited number of trails, it’s best not to go alone as a measure of safety.

Wildlife to look for and when to visit

Waterfalls, mountains, and forests

If you want to see the waters flowing at full force at Angel Falls and elsewhere, visit during the rainy season that runs from May to November. This time also allows you to get as close to the waterfalls as possible. In addition to hunting for cascades, you can observe the plethora of wildlife hiding in the jungle. There are armadillos, monkeys, jaguars, and so much more. Birdwatchers, this is an ideal spot for you, too. You’ll find 14 hummingbird varieties, woodpeckers, toucans, and other bird species.

Canaima National Park is a vast, fascinating, and beautiful location. Book with a guide to explore and learn about the history of the area, the abundance of wildlife in the vicinity, and general facts about the waterfalls you’ll encounter. If you’re looking for a place that might just leave you breathless while quenching your thirst for adventure, look no further. Canaima National Park is the perfect outdoor adventure for you.
