Paoli Peaks Mountain Resort is an under-the-radar gem that offers all the excitement and adventure of a Colorado or Pacific Northwest resort without the long travel times and high expenses of more popular spots. With slopes and trails suitable for all skill levels, Paoli Peaks is the perfect destination for skiing, snowboarding, and other wintertime fun.

Activities, access, and events at Paoli Peaks Mountain Resort

This popular destination, located in Orange County, Southern Indiana, offers a wide range of winter activities for visitors to enjoy. Just minutes from the town of French Lick, 50 miles northwest of Louisville, Kentucky, and approximately 100 miles south of Indianapolis, Paoli Peaks features 15 trails suitable for all skill levels. You can easily navigate the mountain with the help of seven chairlifts. When you need a break, head to the lodge for snacks, drinks, or a meal. 

The resort is open from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday to Sunday for skiing and snowboarding. If you want to go snow tubing, it’s available from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday. The cost of activities at the resort depends on the activity and the participant’s age. For instance, adult lift tickets start at 3:00 p.m. and cost $58. Children aged 5-12 and seniors aged 65 and over can enjoy the same activity at a discounted price of $49. If you need equipment, you can rent it at the resort. You can also book lessons and purchase seasonal passes.

Paoli Peaks Mountain Resort offers a variety of exciting events throughout the ski season, too. For instance, “College Nights” offers discounted lift tickets and rental specials for students, and “Paoli Patio S’mores” is a fun way to spend Sundays during winter.

West Baden Springs Hotel

Although the resort doesn’t provide lodging, you can find many accommodations and amenities in nearby French Lick. The Best Western Plus and Comfort Suites are conveniently located within minutes of the resort. Relax in luxury at the West Baden Springs Hotel, or if you’d like something that feels a little rustic, you can stay in fully furnished log cabins at French Lick Cabins. And while you’re in French Lick, take in some of the other activities featured there: See the circus diorama at the French Lick West Baden Museum, ride on the French Lick Scenic Railway, or have some fun at French Lick/West Baden Indoor Go-Karting. 



Before visiting Paoli Peaks, it’s essential to plan and pack appropriately. Dressing in layers is recommended, with a moisture-wicking base layer, insulating mid-layer, and a waterproof outer layer. Helmets are strongly recommended, especially for children and teens. Sunscreen is a good idea, too. Checking snow conditions before heading to the resort is also advised.
